Steven Farrell, M.D., Chief Medical Officer

Steven Farrell, M.D., currently serves Forrest General Hospital as Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of the Hospital Care Service. He also serves Hattiesburg Clinic as Vice President and as a member of the Board of Directors. After receiving his medical education in 1987 at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, he completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Farrell served the Army as Chief of Medicine at stations in Belgium and Germany and as an internist during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia before returning to the states to continue his practice. He has been honored with two Army commendation medals and a U.S. Army Meritorious Service medal. Farrell is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians and of Physician Executives, and is a charter member of the Society of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Farrell has also received the Fellow in Hospital Medicine (FHM) designation from the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM).
