Forrest General presents AEDs to Picayune fire stations
Forrest General, in conjunction with Cardiology Picayune and Highland Community Hospital, recently presented Automatic External Defibrillators to the City of Picayune. These devices will offer life-saving technology for those who need immediate attention in the event of a heart attack. The AEDs are simple devices used to deliver a shock to a heart attack victim, restoring proper rhythm to their heart and potentially saving their life while waiting for medical help to arrive.
Cardiology Picayune, a partnership of Forrest General and Hattiesburg Clinic, in conjunction with Highland Community Hospital, recently presented two AEDs to the Picayune City Council. The two AEDs will be placed at the north and south fire stations in Picayune. The AEDs were presented by Hattiesburg Clinic Cardiologist Dr. Larry Leader, Highland CEO Doug Jones and COO Mark Stockstill, and were received by the Picayune City Council and Picayune Mayor Ed Pinero Jr.
“In association with Forrest General Hospital, the physicians of Southern Heart Center have had the privilege of providing cardiology services to the citizens of the Picayune area for several years,” said Larry Leader, M.D., Hattiesburg Clinic cardiologist. “Due to increased patient demand, we have recently increased our clinic coverage at our Highland Community Hospital office to five days a week. We are grateful that we were able to play a small role in giving back to the community through the presentation of these AEDs.”
