Forrest General presents AEDs to Magee General Hospital
Forrest General, in conjunction with Cardiology Magee, recently presented two Automatic External Defibrillators to Magee General Hospital. These devices will offer life-saving technology for those who need immediate attention in the event of a heart attack in several locations around the two cities. The AEDs are simple devices used to deliver a shock to a heart attack victim, restoring proper rhythm to their heart and potentially saving their life while waiting for medical help to arrive.
Cardiology Magee, a partnership of Forrest General and Hattiesburg Clinic, presented Magee General Hospital’s charitable foundation, HealthTrust, with the AEDs on November 19. The devices will be placed in the Simpson County and Smith County School systems, to benefit children and teachers in the hospital’s service area. Hattiesburg Clinic Cardiologist and Cardiology Magee provider Ben Rester, M.D., presented the AEDs during a ceremony at Magee General Hospital to Charles Pruitt, M.D., Fundraising Chairman of HealthTrust.
“The physicians of Southern Heart Center consider it a privilege to provide cardiology services to the citizens of Simpson County and the surrounding area from our office at Magee General Hospital,” said Ben Rester, M.D., Hattiesburg Clinic cardiologist. “The hospitality shown to us by both the patients of the area and the staff of Magee General Hospital has been simply overwhelming. We are grateful to play a small role in being able to repay the community by presenting these AEDs to HealthTrust for use in this area.”
