Why Hospice? When you or someone you love becomes terminally ill and needs special attention at home, Forrest General Hospice can help meet these special health care needs. Hospice services are available for all age groups, from infants to the elderly, on an intermittent basis according to the patient's needs and physician's orders.
Most hospice services are provided within the home with family and friends serving as the primary caregivers. Members of the hospice team visit as needed, with after-hours assistance available for emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What is Hospice? Hospice is more than just a place. Hospice is an approach to care when a cure is no longer possible. Our hospice team provides medical, emotional, social, and spiritual support to individuals with a terminal illness and their families. Our focus is on living each day to the fullest through symptom control. Hospice is a resource for individuals in the final stages of chronic diseases, such as:
- Cancer
- Emphysema
- Diabetes
- Alzheimer's disease
- Dementia
- Heart disease
- HIV/AIDS
- Neuromuscular disease
- Kidney disease
- Liver disease
