2013

•     Accreditation Committee for Graduate Medical Education, the governing body for accredited medical residencies in the United States, approved the accreditation of the new Family Medicine Residency Program at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg at their October 16th meeting.

•     American College of Cardiology Foundation’s NCDR ACTION Registry–GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2013, one of only 197 hospitals nationwide to do so

•     American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline Silver Quality Achievement Award recognizing outstanding care of STEMI Heart Attack patients.

•     Blue Distinction Center of Excellence by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi naming Forrest General as one of four Blue Distinction Centers of Excellence for Knee & Hip Replacement and Spine Surgery in Mississippi.

 

2012

•     Forrest General is the only hospital in Mississippi named by Becker's Hospital Review to their list of "101 Hospitals With Great Spine and Neurosurgery Programs."

•     Nuclear Medicine Department granted a three year term of accreditation in Nuclear Cardiology by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL).

•     Forrest General's Rehabilitation unit ranked in the top 3 percent in the nation for Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities by Uniform Data Systems for Medical Rehabilitation(UDSMR) in 2011.

•     Forrest General awarded a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

•     Forrest General is awarded Quality Respiratory Care Recognition by American Association for Respiratory Care for the 8th consecutive year.

             Forrest General is recognized by HealthGrades, the leading independent healthcare ratings organization, as being among the top 10 percent in the nation for Vascular Surgery - one of only three hospitals in Mississippi to receive this ranking. Forrest General is also the only hospital in the region* to receive the 2011 HealthGrades Vascular Surgery Award. Forrest General achieved a 5-Star rating for Carotid Surgery for the fifth year in a row - 2007 to 2011, and is Best in Region for Carotid Surgery in 2011

             Awarded Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) under a national program designed by American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) for seventh consecutive year

             Recognized for "An Outstanding Patient Experience" in Maternity Services under the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital Program

             Forrest General receives ACR Accreditation for Mammography Services

             Recognized with a Successful Outcomes Through Learning award in the category of In-Service Training by HealthStream, Inc., the leading provider of learning solutions for the healthcare industry.

             Public Safety Department achieves CALEA Accreditation. Department demonstrates compliance with the Mississippi State Standards and The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Standards, resulting in accreditation as a Law Enforcement Agency, conferring all rights and responsibilities associated with that designation.

             Quality Respiratory Care Recognition by National Program for Sixth Consecutive Year

             Burkett Ross, Forrest General Board Member receives MHA Distinguished Hospital Trustee Award

             Ultrasound Department Receives ACR Accreditation

             Neurosurgery Unit sets standard for patient satisfaction nationwide (Press Ganey) Neurosurgery Unit scores, based on the quarterly Press Ganey report from April - June 2010, ranked among the highest in the country. This unit has set the bar five times since the July - September 2008 quarterly report. Their scores reflect the highest mean scores obtained nationwide for any hospitals of Forrest General's size, making the hospital's unit one of the top scoring units in the country when it comes to satisfaction reported by patients receiving care in that area.

             Forrest General achieves certification by the Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Care Center.

             Forrest General designated Neuroscience Center of Excellence by NeuStrategy, Inc.

             Forrest General's Respiratory Department receives recognition by the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) for the fifth consecutive year.

             Forrest General's Diabetes Care Center awarded the prestigious American Diabetes Association Education Recognition Certificate.

             Forrest General is selected as the recipient of the USM College of Health Community Partners Award.

             Forrest General receives three-year accreditation in Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Services by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

             Forrest General's Joint Commission certified Stroke Center receives recognition from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines Program.

             Forrest General's Rehabilitation Unit achieves three-year accreditation from CARF International (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for their Adult Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs and awarded as an Adult Stroke Specialty Program.

             Forrest General is rated with five stars in back and neck surgery (spinal fusion) by LeapFrog Group.

 

2008

             Forrest General's Spirit of Women program is awarded Premiere status by the national Spirit of Women organization.

             Forrest General's Cancer Registry receives Gold Certification by the Mississippi Cancer Registry.

             Forrest General's Hospice is awarded a Pewter Trophy for scoring in the 99th percentile in the Press Ganey satisfaction survey.

             Forrest General Home Care receives a Certificate of Excellence from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for committing to participate in a voluntary, national Home Health Quality Improvement (HHQI) campaign.

             Forrest General's Rehabilitation Unit receives re-accreditation from The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

             Forrest General receives the VHA Leadership Award for Supply Chain Management Improvement, in recognition of The Pharmacy Assistance Center, a service of Forrest General and the Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative (SEMRHI), that provides affordable prescription drugs to uninsured and under-insured patients.

             Forrest General earns Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) from the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC), for the third consecutive year.

             Forrest General is chosen as a flagship Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.) Screening hospital for the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute's Stay in Circulation Week campaign, thanks to the hospital's participation in the Spirit of Women program and dedication to raise awareness about P.A.D.
