Tobacco Cessation
Forrest General Wellness is home to one of 27 free tobacco cessation programs that are part of a state-wide system of clinics supported by the ACT Center for Tobacco Treatment, Education and Research, a program of the University of Mississippi Medical Center. This program provides tested, evidence-based treatment including supportive counseling by compassionate, well-trained professionals, and medications approved for treating tobacco dependence by the FDA. This program has a long track record of excellent outcomes. Best of all, it is paid for by funding from the Mississippi Legislature and Department of Health, so there is no cost to the participating tobacco users who are residents of our state.
- One-on-one mentoring with a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist to assist you in preparing to quit using tobacco
- Weekly meetings for six weeks, and follow-up appointments as desired
- With participation in this free six-week program, participants will be provided with the smoking cessation patch, gum, and Wellbutrin free of charge with a physician's prescription.
Forrest General is committed to improving the health of our community. As part of our commitment to this goal, the Forrest General campus is designated as a tobacco-free environment.
