Forrest General's Neurology Services includes a designated Stroke Unit, which has been certified by the Joint Commission as an advanced primary stroke care center. Forrest General is only the second hospital in Mississippi to achieve this certification. Forrest General also participates in the American Stroke Association/American Heart Association's "Get With The Guidelines" program, which recognizes those hospitals that are dedicated to improving the delivery of quality stroke care. Forrest General's dedicated Stroke Unit offers specialized, personalized care for stroke patients, ensuring that they are treated quickly in order to minimize damage to the brain and maximize quality of life following a stroke. Neurology Services also includes Forrest General's Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), which offers diagnostic epilepsy monitoring, pre-surgical testing and evaluation. Forrest General's staff and board-certified neurologists have over 12 years of experience in epilepsy monitoring.
