Forrest General offers a comprehensive approach to patient care for those needing neurosurgical services, including surgery for spine or other nervous system diseases or disorders or emergency procedures, ranging from decompression of nerves to literally, brain surgery.
Neurosurgeons, trauma staff, Critical Care staff, and the Neurosurgery Unit staff work together to provide the best possible care for many different patients. This includes patients requiring emergency procedures not only from the local area but also from other hospitals in south Mississippi.
In order to provide the highest quality of care, Forrest General employs cutting-edge equipment and technology such as a computer-assisted intracranial nagivation system, allowing physicians to perform the most complex neurosurgical procedures. The hospital has a designated Neurosurgery Operating Room and designated 12-bed Neurosurgery Specialty Unit, in addition to a 40-bed Critical Care Unit. The Neurosurgery Unit has achieved the 95th percentile or higher in patient satisfaction scores when compared with other neurosurgical specialty units across the country.
Forrest General offers a wide range of neurosurgical procedures, both inpatient and outpatient. Primary neurosurgical procedures are performed to treat the following:
