Camp Bluebird

Sponsored by Forrest General Hospital and the Telephone Pioneers of America, Camp Bluebird was the first camp in South Mississippi designed for adults with a cancer diagnosis.

The two-and-a-half-day camp is held at Paul B. Johnson State Park and includes optional recreational activities, social events, devotionals, education opportunities and lots of sharing time.

The camp's purpose is to promote a sense of well-being among campers, to each skills for living with cancer and cancer treatments, and to provide a time for rest and relaxation. Held in the spring and fall, Camp Bluebird campers participate in arts and crafts, fishing, boating, hiking, meditating, sharing and caring-all under the supervision of registered nurses specializing in the care of people with cancer.
