Cancer Registry

The Cancer Registry is an essential component of the cancer program at Forrest General Hospital. The registry abides by the standards set by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, and the Cancer Committee bylaws. The registry goals ensure accurate and timely collection of diagnosed and/or treated cancer patient data since 1968, which allow for the evaluation of patient outcomes and identification of opportunities for improvement. Lifetime follow-up of patients included in the database encourages clinical follow-up and surveillance of additional primaries. Registry activities in 2005 include 14 data requests from physicians, administration and other departments, and coordination and distribution of the 2005 Cancer Program of Excellence Annual Report. The Cancer Registry Staff Members: Daphne Nix, BS, CTR, Cancer Registrar; Jena Hopkins, Cancer Registrar; and Juliet Hinton, BSB, MBA, CTR, Cancer Registry Manager.
