In-House Oncology
Forrest General Hospital's Oncology Unit is located on the sixth floor of the tower wing and features 33 specially-designed patient rooms. Primary service areas include chemotherapy, radiation and blood stem cell transplantation. Physicians may utilize the unique "team approach" when making rounds. The Cancer Team includes: physicians, clinical nurse specialists, patient care coordinators, medical social workers, dietitians and mental health specialists. The team aids the physician in necessary care of the patient, family and friends. A specially-trained pharmacist works with the Oncology Unit to maintain medications.
