Lipid Center
Forrest General's Lipid Center, developed in fall 1998, helps lower the risk of cardiovascular disease in South Mississippi residents. Atherosclerotic disease-the number one killer in America-takes nearly twice as many lives as all types of cancer combined. Mississippi leads the nation in heart disease deaths, and The Lipid Center is reversing the problem through education and prevention.
The Lipid Center uses a multi-disciplinary team approach to determine cardiovascular risk factors. This treatment plan is designed to meet the individual needs of each patient. This service does not take the place of a primary care physician.
Services offered by The Lipid Center require several visits and may be started during hospitalization. The Lipid Center's goal is to provide a comprehensive evaluation and provide the knowledge necessary to permanently reduce cardiovascular risk.
