Women & Children Services
Since 1952, Forrest General Hospital's Women and Children Services has been delivering superior care. Exceptional quality of care, personal attention, an extensive range of services and highly-skilled physician's and nurses are why families have trusted their health and future to Forrest General for more than half a century. No matter what your age, no matter what your needs, we offer services designed especially for you.
Renovation of the 6,000 square-foot, six-bassinet Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and 15-bassinet Intermediate Care Nursery, as well as the 19,000 square-foot, 12-bed Labor and Delivery Unit, will provide updates to existing space. The 25-bed Postpartum Unit, nine-bed Women’s Unit for patients recovering from gynecological surgery and a 35-bed Well-Baby Nursery, totaling 30,000 square feet, will be relocated from their current areas to the fourth floor of the new Critical Care Tower. In addition, a new entrance to women’s services will connect from the parking garage to the fourth floor entry.
Forrest General, in partnership with Hattiesburg Clinic, will soon be home to 28th Place, South Mississippi’s first comprehensive women’s center. The center, which is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2007, will feature Board-certified plastic surgeons and OB/GYN physicians along with Ultrasound, Bone Densitometry, Lactation Services and The Breast Center. The center will also house the Forrest General gift shop and community education conference rooms. Additionally, the center will include an on-site Day Spa that will offer services such as massage therapy, spider vein removal, chemical peels and laser hair removal.
